Her storytelling should capture young readers once again. Mazer takes Bunny through the stages of growth and acceptance with accurate and touching emotions. Bunny is both hurt and angered at the effect that her grandmother's stroke has on her personally. So when an impossibly gorgeous guy starts talking to her at a concert, Bunny opens her mouth and says two fateful words: 'Im Emily. Both have the usual amount of minor problems (babysitting and boys) and major problems (parental divorce and illness in the family), and they weather them well in a realistic school/family setting. The only thing Bunny doesnt find humor in is her unusual nameshes heard jokes about it her whole life, and none of them are funny.

Her friendship with Emily is the source and depth of this simple story of two teenagers learning about life. Bunny, however, is a likable, true-to-life character who hates her name and wants to be a professional clown. The title B, My Name Is Bunny follows A, My Name Is Ami (Scholastic, 1986), making one wonder about Z, My Name Is Zebediah and everything in between. The cover has photographs of two cute 18-year-old girls trying to look and act like 13 year olds. Grade 6-9 An enjoyable book, even though it has two strikes against it: the cover and the title. Bunny is funny, but that doesn’t mean she’s totally clueless when it comes to more serious matters With her quick wit and lighthearted personality, Bunny Larrabee can make people laugh about almost anything.
